Mama (Hunter's Song)

By Brittany Rutherford

Mama (Hunter's Song)

Mama — also known as Hunter's Song — is a raw and devastating ballad written from the perspective of a young man who has already made the decision to end his life, but cannot find the words to tell the person he loves most. Written by Brittany Rutherford and composed by Crimson Clay, the song captures the quiet finality of someone whose light has already gone out — the grave marked, the clock running, the goodbye unspoken.
It is not a song about the act. It is a song about the moment before — the weight of a secret too heavy to carry and too painful to share. It ends where it must: with him finally at peace, six feet deep, free from a world that never quite had room for who he was.
Written in memory of a real life lost too soon. Handle with care.
