Needle on the Rim
Needle on the Rim is a six-track jazz EP that blends traditional vocal jazz sensibilities with a distinct, atmospheric Future Noir aesthetic. The project functions as a sonic architecture, treating sound design and musical performance as a unified narrative landscape.
Inspiration & Aesthetic Focus
The primary inspiration behind the EP is the intersection of classic mid-century jazz club intimacy and speculative, near-future urban isolation—a hallmark of the Future Noir genre. The tracks are designed to feel atmospheric and cinematic, evoking rainy cityscapes, neon-lit shadows, and late-night introspection.
Rather than treating the recording as a simple performance capture, the creative focus centers on building a specific world. The music balances the warmth of analog acoustic elements with precise, moody digital space, positioning the vocalist as a late-night observer navigating a changing sonic territory.
