Dr. Merzotic
"Dr. Merzotic" is the latest conceptual death metal album from CERBER, a band rooted in the Russian underground since 1991.
The album is a dark narrative journey set in 17th-century Europe, following the scientist Alfred Merzotic as he crosses the continent in search of forbidden knowledge. The story unfolds in abbeys, secret societies, and alchemist laboratories, exploring themes of scientific obsession, spiritual corruption, and the blurred boundary between life and death.
Musically, "Dr. Merzotic" delivers powerful old-school death metal with aggressive riffing, blast beats, and dark atmospheric layers. The vocal style draws from early Deicide and Cannibal Corpse tradition — deep growls combined with intense rhythmic phrasing that brings the character of Merzotic to life.
The songs were composed and arranged by CERBER's core members, including guitar parts and song structures. For this release, they collaborated with international session vocalists who received detailed lyric and timing sheets to ensure precise delivery aligned with the album's dramatic narrative.
This is not just a collection of songs — it's a cohesive descent into madness, corruption, and the supernatural, solidifying CERBER's place in the modern death metal scene.
