Child Of Yesterday

My Initials (GB) and the fact I have been a do or die biker for over 30 years ( Rider ) make my artist name

The year was 2019, I hadn’t released any original material under my own name since 2009, let alone picked up a guitar, I couldn’t care, I was burnt out from constant gigs, life, alcohol, you name it.

I lost both my parents and the woman I loved to cancer in the space of 4 years, the last being my father in 2019 and I had enough, so I sold everything I owned except an old Harley and some clothing, and I decided to become a biker hobo, I had no responsibilities, no money issues, just a head full of baggage and a heart full of pain and I needed to just disappear.

If you ever want to reflect on life, use the road, it will take you to places you never knew existed physically, mentally and spiritually, and by this time, I realised that I was writing songs in my head as i was riding, I was hearing melodies, lyrics full productions, and they were staying in my head, so I started stopping and writing down the ideas and even notation.

everything from losing my fiancé (Spirit In A Sailboat) to losing my Mom (Mother) to my battles with alcohol (Ballad Of The Broken) and everything in between, the intro track Welcome is about mental health, that to me is just a creepy old fairground ride you never know what stall you`re going to come across each day, but it welcomes you into its darkness like a puppet master, it’s all here and it was all just a bunch of phone notes..

I ended up in Portugal in Carvoeiro in Feb 2020 and low and behold we end up with some supposed deadly pandemic and were not allowed to go anywhere, so I was stuck, I snuck into the mountains and found a little house with a place to build a studio, and over a 2 year period I produced this album you are hearing..

I would have loved to have other musicians play on this, but it was lockdown so I played everything myself, and the whole album from what you hear to what you see, from the first note to the mastered version was all done by me, I would love to get this remixed and mastered by people infinitely more qualified but as a man, as an artist, as a musician, I guess it shows you who I am.
