I'm producing an independent audio documentary, Q: What Remains (roughly 19-24 min), and need a composer for an original score. ** This job is for a 45 second paid test composition against the audio as part of the hiring process **

This project is a first-person investigative narrative audio documentary-essay: a son reconstructing his father's secret life as a classified Cold War physicist, nuclear and space themes throughout. Audio-first, with images add ... ed later, headed for film and audio festivals. It's also proof of concept for larger versions: a possible podcast series, documentary, and rock opera.

About me: I'm a filmmaker with 25+ years in independent and non-mainstream film and audio.

The score: cinematic, ambient, mysterious, with traces of sci-fi soundscape, moving between the profound, the heavy, and brief revelation. Reference: Brian Eno's and similar, but you can surprise me too. The story has 10+ main beats; I want cues that serve each beat, ambience threaded throughout. Roughly a third of the runtime needs more than ambience (~8 min of composition for 24 min). Tell me if you also handle sound FX.

I'm hiring composers for a 45 second paid test segment first, then will hire off that, but would like quote for the 45 seconds section AND the complete 19-24 minute score.

Optional add-on: a ~1 min rock number under the credits, Pink Floyd-leaning, a Great Gig in the Sky-style female vocal over a rising build into a simple repeated chorus. I supply lyrics; vocalists can be sourced. Quote separately.

Scope: you'll work to a narration cut now being edited. One main pass, a revision once images are added, possibly a minor tweak.

Deadline: roughly mid-December for festival windows. Delivery at 48kHz/24-bit, stems plus a basic temp mix; no mastering needed (mix/master quoted separately if offered). Likely a total buyout with promo credit.

No AI-generated music. Sample libraries fine; real keys and live instruments best of all. Not a student project.
