Lyric and song production consultation

Hello, everybody.
I have just registered with AirGigs.
The thing is, I have written some lyrics inspired by and dedicated to a young friend. I am no musician whatsoever, I cannot sing by any means, but I do appreciate music and was wondering whether my lyrics would be of any value.
I would like to help this young fellow (my friend) build a better life for himself, as he has been struggling a lot, battling life's hardships and his inner demons every n ... ow and then.
Several people said plain lyrics don't sell and that I should at least experience with AI and find a tune that resembles what I hear in my head as being compatible with my lyrics. I did that and managed to create something that approaches the style I was imagining. The characteristics are Melodic Rock, Emo Rock, Post-Grunge, Emotional, Strained Vocals, Mid Tempo, soulful, mysterious, depressive, Male Voice, 60-80 BPM. However, AI is not really what I was thinking of.

So could anyone please advise what I could do with those lyrics? Are plain lyrics really and completely worthless?
