Artistic Director Brief
Kaya Street are offering an exciting opportunity for a socially conscious and innovative artist to provide powerful artwork and design for Kaya Street’s debut EP Dark Light 2020. https://kayastreet.com/

The project has been made entirely via lockdown with remote contributions from musicians across the world and chronicles the events of 2020 through the pr ... ism of a dub reggae soundtrack, media samples and highly charged lyrics on themes of political protests, climate change, surveillance capitalism, state terrorism, culture wars, toxic vanity, media manipulation, progressive internationalism and pandemic exposed worldwide inequalities.

To apply applicants should provide a portfolio of work, the media they are comfortable working within, including how to work with film/TV/animation, and answer in no more than 250 words the below questions:

1. Why they want this position?
2. What motivates their artwork?
3. What their long term aspirations are?

The successful applicant is expected to work in partnership with Kaya to develop their artistic vision for the project. As such they will need good communication skills, an excellent work ethic, provide punctual delivery, be financially independent and most importably be passionate about the project. As the project is in its infancy the position is currently unfunded, however, for specific project outputs, such as artwork/music videos/merch etc funds will be provided and discussed regularly at meetings.
