The Antique Harmoniums is the creation of Jon Charles Fortman.

Harmoniums’ albums are written, produced, and scored by Jon Charles Fortman who is formally trained with a Bachelor’s degree in music and years of orchestral performance experience. Fortman models the album production approach of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen [Steely Dan]: whatever or whoever is the best fit for the song, goes on the record. The “band” is in perpetual flux from album to album.

Fans have described Harmoniums’ albums as “rock symphonies” covering a wide spectrum of musical genres. The debut album, Gifts and Testaments of Robin Hood Road, supports this genre diversity. Fortman’s unconventional approach to managing this indie project gave creativity and production quality priority over budgeting. Malcolm Tarlofsky, who contributed to the Tonic albums, Lemon Parade and Sugar, was engaged for artwork packaging.

Robin Hood road is a real place where Fortman and his two brothers, who made monumental contributions to the debut album, found open-mindedness, love, and a caring compassionate home where artistic expression was encouraged by their mother.
