Mike first played bass with Meataxe Jackson and was signed to EMI with his next band, the Stan Laurel Band. They played all of the great London rock venues like the Marquee and Speakeasy.
In 1978 Mike formed The Papers, an agipop rock reggae band, with his twin brother John. Their first single, 'How many More (for the third world war)', got to #1 in the indie charts. It featured an early sample of US President Ronnie Reagan. They were signed to Panache Music and Radioactive Records and headlined the big festivals of the day. www.thepapersmusic.co.uk
In 1982 Mike moved to Brighton and joined the chart-topping Piranhas as their bass player. In the late 80's he took up pedal steel guitar and joined the Blue Hearts - the UK's first indie country band. They released four albums and gigged in the UK and Europe. Over the years Mike has added the Fender Stratocaster, slide guitar and bango to his repertoire.
Mike has played pedal steel sessions for various artists and played steel at NXNE and CMW in Toronto with The Jamestown Union. He currently gigs in the UK and Europe with The Blue Hearts - and Cajun outfit Rough Chowder playing bass.
Mike has been songwriting throughout his musical career. He has songs published in London and Nashville. He has a cut on the Brazilbilly album in Nashville - also their debut single. His songs have been featured in film and TV shows in LA.
Mike has two children, Kate and Michael. He lives in Brighton UK
