Lead Male Vocals on rock/blues rock/pop rock demo
Have what I'd call a basic rock song, a bit pop and a bit blues, "Ain't Karma a Bitch". Sending my demo/scratch vocal take, sung at about 70% or even less of what I am looking for, intensity-wise. Of course, I don’t expect or want you to try and match my warbly, off-pitch singing-I want it to be much better than that! ;).
I am looking for more energy, more passion, some rasp on the voice, in a deeper register perhaps/probably. There is a fi...ne line between it being a mean-spirited, acerbic revenge song vs a more mildly sarcastic one, with a sense of levity in it, and it is the latter characteristics that I’m mostly looking for. A bit “Like A Rolling Stone” by Dylan, in spirit at least. I want there to be a kind of “playful knowing” behind the singer’s voice, like, “it sucks, you brought in on yourself, and while I am taking some pleasure in what is happening to you because you hurt me (schadenfreude) and others, in the end, this is just how it works”.
Lots of internal rhymes that I want to stick to, I don’t want those to get lost in the flow.
Feel free to go for it/belt it a bit during the (end of) the bridge, if you have the range and it fits the song, especially that last line, and even more specifically, the last word in the song “biiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch….”
Of course the song has a blues-rock feel, and there’s kind of a slightly slow, languid timing to the voice, kind of just hangs sometimes, which I think is a nice counterbalance to the meaning of the lyrics, part of what makes it playful and ultimately makes it a better and more commercial song. My intent is to market and sell this song, so in order to be viable can’t be too…evil!
Also, while I am totally open to you recording the first version on your own, I'd much prefer someone who was open to working live/online with my producer for any revisions that may be needed . An added variable-I'm in Thailand at the moment, so depending on where you are in the world, there will be that time difference to work with. Needless to say, with a producer's guidance, we can make sure we get everything we need, or still need, after your first effort. In other words, there should be no need for a 2nd revision with a live sesh.
Ok well that’s probably more than enough for now. Honestly, respectfully, please don't bother if you don't really resonate with the song and my vision for it-I don't want to waste anyone's time. Oh, and I am sending the entire song-which is officially copyrighted with US Copyright office :)
